J. Angelier et al., RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN STRESS-FIELDS AND D EFORMATION ALONG A COMPRESSIVE STRIKE-SLIP BELT - CAUCASUS AND CRIMEA (RUSSIA AND UKRAINE), Comptes rendus de l'Academie des sciences. Serie 2, Mecanique, physique, chimie, sciences de l'univers, sciences de la terre, 319(3), 1994, pp. 341-348
The first results of a preliminary brittle tectonic palaeostress analy
sis carried out in Crimea and NW-Caucasus highlight the stress-displac
ement relationships during the Tertiary, along this WNW-ESE trending t
ectonic boundary between the European Platform and Black Sea domains.
Following major extension, shortening and strike-slip (mostly dextral)
occurred in variable proportions during the Tertiary; the present-day
stress regime is compressional-dextral.
