Abstract
To investigate temperamental predictors of linguistic style, parents o f 29 13-month-olds completed the Rothbart Infant Behavior Questionnair e and were later interviewed about their children's language. Three te mperamental dimensions predicted analytic/referential language. Temper ament may contribute to parent-child relationships conducive to acquis ition of nominals.
