G. Legal et al., THE ROLE OF A DISORDERED INTERFACE BETWEEN 2 FERROMAGNETIC ISING SYSTEMS IN A TRANSVERSE FIELD, Physica. A, 209(1-2), 1994, pp. 129-139
The phase diagrams of a disordered interface consisting of two mixed l
ayers between two semi-infinite spin-1/2 Ising ferromagnets (A and B)
in a transverse field are investigated by the use of the effective-fie
ld theory. We have obtained some interesting results. (i) For zero tra
nsverse field, the increase of thickness in the interface with alloyin
g disorder A(p) - B1-p does not change the possibility of interface ma
gnetism. (ii) In a finite transverse field, the critical exchange inte
raction at which the interface magnetism can appear may be affected se
verely, especially for the systems with pure (p = 0 and p = 1) interfa
ces, although the critical value of the disordered interface with 0.3
less-than-or-equal-to p less-than-or-equal-to 0.9 does not deviate so
much from that of zero transverse field. (iii) The possibility of obse
rving the interface magnetism experimentally is also proposed, applyin
g a large transverse field.
