Yc. Zhang et K. Paulson, CONFIDENCE-LIMIT FOR THE EXISTENCE OF A SOLUTION TO THE ONE-DIMENSIONAL MAGNETOTELLURIC INVERSE PROBLEM, Journal of Geomagnetism and Geoelectricity, 49(9), 1997, pp. 1145-1152
The necessary and sufficient conditions for the existence of a solutio
n to the one-dimensional magnetotelluric inverse problem are extended
to error data. The confidence criterion is defined and used for testin
g the existence of a one-dimensional solution when data errors are con
sidered. Synthetic data sets and two very popular real data sets are t
ested using this new confidence criterion.
