Abstract
A study of the jumping mechanism of a mite of the genus Indotritia has shown that its leg extension is one of the fastest movements known am ong animals (duration of approximately 0.5 ms). Moreover, the power pe r unit mass developed by this mite is unequaled among animals that jum p using their legs and without the use of any specialized structures.
