Abstract
We propose a new approach to study of the observability of coupled lin ear systems. It is based on a generalization of some results of nonhar monic analysis to vector-valued functions. Applying this method, we an swer some questions of J.-L. Lion on the boundary observability of cou pled linear distributed systems in some particular cases.
