Abstract
The first energy educational institution was established in Russia in 1920 based on the Mining Academy. The present I.M. Gubkin Oil and Gas Academy, GANG, has developed a basically new educational concept which meets market economy requirements of the present day. This article hi ghlights history of this country-largest oil and gas educational insti tution, essential features of its training practices and the overall e nergy training framework based on its 38 subsidiary professional train ing centres.
