Wj. Gomes et al., SURGICAL RETRIEVAL OF UNDEPLOYED INTRACORONARY STENT WITHOUT CARDIOPULMONARY BYPASS, European journal of cardio-thoracic surgery, 12(4), 1997, pp. 666-667
Intracoronary stenting has now become a widely stablished method for t
reatment of complications of coronary angioplasty. The risk of stent e
mbolism exists and if not retrieved, it may lead to thrombosis and cor
onary occlusion with myocardial infarction. We report a case of emboli
sm of an undeployed intracoronary stent where there was failure of per
cutaneous attempts to pull back the stent, requiring surgical retrieva
l and simultaneous coronary artery bypass grafting, both without cardi
opulmonary bypass. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science B.V.
