Catalytic properties of the vanadium-antimony oxide system in ammoxida
tion of methylpyrazine were studied at 230-480 degrees C. Two regions
of compositions which differ in both activity and selectivity to the r
eaction products were determined: the vanadium-enriched region and tha
t enriched by antimony. The catalytic activity increased with increasi
ng vanadium content. The maximum yield of pyrazinecarbonitrile was ach
ieved on the sample containing 10 mol % V2O5; the minimum yield was fo
und for the sample with the equimolar composition.
