The phase composition and state of the vanadium cations in the vanadiu
m-antimony catalysts of different compositions before and after the re
action of methylpyrazine ammoxidation were studied by XRD, IR, ESR, an
d V-51 NMR. Vanadium antimonate had the lowest selectivity in the seri
es of binary compositions. At Sb/V > 1, a solid solution of the tetrah
edrally coordinated V5+ ions in Sb6O13 was the most selective, and at
Sb/V < 1, the vanadium pentoxide was the active component.
