The effect of support nature, composition, and method of preparation o
f ruthenium-containing catalysts on their efficiency in the complex ga
s purification from CO, NO, and C3H6 (C3H8) in the presence of oxygen
was studied. Cerium additives were found to improve the activity and t
he thermal stability of a platinum-ruthenium catalyst and to make ruth
enium less volatile. The proposed Pt-Ru-Ce catalyst meets the standard
s for exhaust gases from internal-combustion engines.
