Abstract
This study deals with annual and monthly precipitation levels as obser ved in non-Sahelian regions of Western and Central Africa, mainly duri ng the decades 1950 to 1980. The study is based on a set of methods co ncerning interpolation and cartographic representation as well as on s tatistical methods for detection of breaks in time series. These metho ds reveal a variability of rainfall regimes in the so-called humid reg ions of Africa that occurred in the late 1970s and at the beginning of the 1960s.
