Abstract
The centrosymmetric 4,4'-azinodimethyldipyridinium cations, C12H12N42, are planar and lie in planes parallel to the c axis. There is a stro ng intermolecular hydrogen bond, N1-H ... O4(i) [2.896(3) Angstrom; sy mmetry code: (i) - x, 1 - y, -z], and a number of weaker hydrogen bond s between the C atoms of the pyridine rings and the O atoms of the per chlorate anions [3.234-3.246(4) Angstrom].
