DRUG-ADDICTION IN RUSSIA

The statistic data evidence for rapid increase of the number of narcom anias, especially in juveniles and young people nowadays in Russia. Th e spectrum of psychoactive preparations used became also wider. On the basis of medicobiological studies the conception concerning main path ogenetic machanisms of the development of psychoactive substances depe ndence was formulated. Enzyme immune assays either for diagnosis of lo ng-term opiate administration or for determination of blood serum meth adone level were elaborated. Clinical studies demonstrated pathomorphi sm of the symptoms of dependence upon well-known narcotics. Clinical p attern of dependence upon new psychoactive preparations which cause de pendence syndrome was also investigated. New differentiated methods of treatment of various types of narcomanias are proposed. There is unde rlined that a comprehensive program of narcomanias prophylaxis in Russ ia is needed.
