Abstract
Raman scattering has been used to study the pressure dependence of lat tice modes in Zr up to 16 GPa. Softening of the zone-center transverse optical mode of alpha-Zr is observed with increasing pressure. An add itional mode, observed above 8 GPa in the upstroke run and in the unlo ading cycle, is assigned to omega-Zr. [S0163-1829(97)06241-3].
