Abstract
The systematic analysis of wide class of inorganic proton conducting h ydrates has been carried out. The possible defect formation and proton transfer mechanism are discussed and illustrated for some substances. The main directions for the search of the new solid state ionics with high proton conductivity at room temperature are determined. Bibliogr aphy - 65 references.
