Abstract
Substitution of lead with bismuth in a cast semi red brass. Cast red b rass alloyed with nontoxic bismuth possesses almost similar materials properties as that containing ph. The alloy CuSn3Zn8 with a Bi content between 2 and 7 wt. % was investigated in order to substitute the ph containing alloy having the same or similar composition. The results s how that the alloys of both types are similar in microstructure, casti ng behaviour, mechanical properties and machinability.
