Abstract
We obtain a new nonlinear algebra with irrational deformation function s. This algebra is generated by the Hamiltonian and natural operators in the first Poschl-Teller potential, and can be viewed as a nonlinear spectrum-generating algebra. It becomes the ordinary su(1,1) Lie alge bra when the deformation parameter tends to zero. (C) 1997 Elsevier Sc ience B.V.
