ELECTRONIC SPECTROSCOPY OF UO

Spectra for gas-phase uranium oxide have been analyzed to obtain molec ular constants and provide a partial atlas of the visible and near inf rared bands for the isotopomers (UO)-U-238-O-16, (UO)-U-238-O-18, (UO) -U-235-O-16, and (UO)-U-235-O-18. Nineteen bands of the (UO)-U-238-O-1 6, (UO)-U-238-O-18, and (UO)-U-235-O-18 isotopomers were rotationally analyzed. With few exceptions, Omega assignments were unambiguously de termined from observations of the first lines in at least two rotation al branches.
