Abstract
Diffuse reflectance UV-visible spectra (2000-200 nm/5000-50 000 cm(-1) ) are reported for FeF3, CoF3, RuF3, RhF3, IrF3 and PdF3. Assignments for the spectra are proposed and compared with literature data on rela ted hexafluoroanions [MF6](n-). The spectrum of PdF3 is consistent wit h the known mixed-valence Pd-II[(PdF6)-F-IV] constitution of this mate rial. (C) Elsevier Science S.A.
