Vl. Bodneva et Tn. Khazanovich, EFFECT OF THE FINITE EXTENSIBILITY OF CHA INS ON THE DENSITY DISTRIBUTION IN POLYMER COILS, Vysokomolekularnye soedinenia. Seria A, 39(8), 1997, pp. 1360-1364
The density distribution of beads with respect to their center of mass
was calculated on the basis of the model of beads connected by free-j
ointed rigid bonds. This distribution is proportional to the density d
istribution of monomers in a theta-solvent provided the chains are suf
ficiently long. The distribution functions for the distances between t
he center of mass and different beads were also calculated. As the num
ber of segments grows, the density distribution approaches that for th
e Gauss model. However, even for the chains comparising a small number
of segments the difference is noticeable only for distances, that are
more than twice greater than the radius of gyration of the coil. An i
ncrease in the chain rigidity (the length of the segment) leads to a m
ore rapid drop in the density at this distant periphery.
