An approach is developed that allows the microstructure and reactivity
of a vinyl chloride-maleic anhydride copolymer in solution to be eval
uated using the results of mathematical modeling of the cooperative re
actions of the copolymer with sodium azide. It is demonstrated that ma
cromolecules of the copolymer contain four types of monomer units of a
nd eight types of the units including enole and dienole furan derivati
ves. The chain microstructure depends on the initial concentration of
copolymer. A high content of the quasi-aromatic structures in isolated
macromolecules is explained by a decrease in the Gibbs energy of the
system.
