Nj. Cassotis et al., USE OF FULL CORTICAL ALLOGRAFT TO REPAIR A METATARSAL FRACTURE IN A FOAL, Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association, 211(9), 1997, pp. 1155-1157
Large segmental defects of cortical bone can result from infected frac
tures, and treatment of these defects can be difficult, especially in
large animals. Cortical bone allografts, in combination with rigid int
ernal fixation, are an option for repair of large segmental defects in
long bones of foals.
