A vacuum effect upon the sensitivity of a CR-39 track detector to 5.57
-MeV alpha-particles from a Am-241 source was studied, Exposure to vac
uum (2.2 x 10(-6) Torr less than or equal to P less than or equal to 8
x 10(-6) Torr) for less than or equal to 12 h prior to and after irra
diation leads to a decrease in the CR-39 polymer recording efficiency
of no more than 15%.
