Abstract
The commutator contains a stack of reverse switch-on dynistors (RSD), a coaxial saturable-core choke, a shaper of microsecond control curren t pulses on the basis of an additional RSD, a step-up pulse transforme r, and double-section magnetic compression system. The commutator para meters are (working voltage) 20 kV, (maximum repetition rate) 1 kHz, ( amplitude of switched current pulses) 7 kA, (pulse length) 1.2 mu s, ( pulse front duration) 0.4 mu s, and (dimensions) 450 x 300 x 120 mm.
