Abstract
It is shown that the efficiency of conditioning the accelerating gap b etween the microchannel plate and screen by rectangular pulses with an infinitely short rise time is similar to 15% higher than the efficien cy of conditioning by pulses with oblique-angled fronts. Intermediate values are obtained with rectangular pulses with finite front duration .
