Abstract
Fourteen 4-mercaptoimidazoles derived from the naturally occurring fam ily of antioxidants, the ovothiols, have been synthesized by cyclizati on of thioamides with trimethylsilyl trifluoromethanesulfonate (trifla te). These compounds have been assayed for their radical-scavenging ac tivity.
