Abstract
X-Ray diffraction and Gd-155-Mossbauer effect were applied to study th e structural, electronic and magnetic properties of GdMn2Hx with x=0, 0.5, 1.0, 2.0, 2.5, 3.4 and 4.3. The XRD studies performed between 12 and 300 K reveal the existence of defined phases with cubic or rhomboh edrally distorted C15 structure. The Gd-155 isomer shift, quadrupole i nteraction and hyperfine field clearly reflect the electronic and magn etic modifications of the Gd site by the hydrogen uptake. (C) 1997 Els evier Science S.A.
