Abstract
Heteronuclear complex, La[FexCo1-x(CN)(6)]. nH(2)O was synthesized and the thermal decomposed products were examined. Single phase of perovs kite-type LaFexCo1-xO3 powders were obtained by the thermal decomposit ion of the complexes even at 600 degrees C. Hexagonal structure is obs erved for Fe/La<0.5 and orthorhombic (pseudo-cubic) for Fe/La>0.5. Fro m a mechanically mixed and compacted complexes of La[Fe(CN)(6)]. nH(2) O and La[Co(CN)(6)]. nH(2)O, perovskite-type LaFexCo1-xO3 oxide could not be formed by thermal decomposition/sintering even at 1100 degrees C. It is concluded that La[FexCo1-x(CN)(b)]. nH(2)O complex is a suita ble precursor to prepare finer and homogeneous perovskite-type LaFexCo 1-xO3. (C) 1997 Elsevier Science S.A.
