NEW DEVELOPMENTS IN DRUG-THERAPY OF HYPERTENSION

The explosion of new knowledge about the complex mechanisms mediating high blood pressure is providing new targets for drug therapy of hyper tension and other cardiovascular disorders. This article reviews the c urrent status of several new approaches in the management of hypertens ion, including vasopressin antagonists, natriuretic peptide clearance inhibitors, endothelin antagonists, renin inhibitors, angiotensin rece ptor antagonists, and selective T-type calcium ion channel antagonists .
