This work presents the technology of thin carbon-carbon composite shel
ls. Composites produced using Thornel P-100 high-modulus fibers were i
rradiated with gamma-rays and neutrons. The influence of irradiation o
n flexural modulus was studied. The results indicate that the doses 10
Mrad and 6.1 x 10(16)n/cm(2) of gamma-rays and neutrons, respectively
, cause a slight increase in the elastic properties of the material st
udied. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier Science Ltd.
