M. Kempf et al., INFLUENCE OF DISSOLVED O-2 ON THE FERMENTATIVE PRODUCTION OF GALLIDERMIN BY STAPHYLOCOCCUS-GALLINARUM, Biotechnology letters, 19(11), 1997, pp. 1063-1065
Decreased O-2 supply during the fermentative production of gallidermin
by Staphylococcus gallinarum decreased biomass formation by 65% compa
red to that obtained with optimal oxygen supply. However the antibioti
c, gallidemin, increased by more than 50% at the same time. This effec
t was used in a process strategy, that allows biomass formation under
oxygen saturation first and then switches to a prolonged production ph
ase after a carefully directed shift to oxygen limitation.
