Some Rotifera of the General Invertebrates Collection of the Academy o
f Natural Sciences of Philadelphia are reported upon. Based on this ma
terial and on the examination of newly collected specimens, two new sp
ecies, Lecane gallagherorum n.sp. and Scaridium neglectum n.sp. are de
scribed, while Lecane pycina Harring & Myers and Trichocerca mucosa (S
tokes) are redescribed and reinstated as valid morphospecies. Lecane s
olfatara Hauer is redescribed. Lecane pideis Harring & Myers, Lepadell
a myersiana Voigt and Monommata arndti Remane are recognized as junior
synonyms of Lecane rhopalura Harring & Myers, Lepadella venefica Myer
s and Monommata actices Myers, respectively. Three Rotifera, Colurella
paludosa Carlin, Lepadella costatoides Segers and Trichocerca siamens
is Segers & Pholpunthin are newly recorded from the USA.
