Abstract
In the title compound, -diaza-5,6-benzobicyclo[8.8.8]hexacos-5-ene)bar ium dichloride hexahydrate, [BaCl2(Cl2H36N2O6)1.6H2O, the Ba ion is su rrounded by the cryptand molecule (222B) with the arm containing the f used benzene-ring substituent bent towards one of the other two crypta nd arms, leaving two slightly larger open faces through which two addi tional water molecules are coordinated, making a total of ten atoms su rrounding the Ba atom. The species could be more accurately represente d as [Ba(222B)(H2O)2]2+ .2Cl-.4H2O
