Abstract
A scheme for metal speciation based on an ion-exchange column procedur e has been developed. The dissociation kinetics of metal complexes wer e studied using a Amberlite XAD-8 microcolumn technique, covering a ti me scale of measurement between 0.02 and 3 s. Application of this proc edure to copper and lead complexes permits their characterization in f our lability categories: labile, quasi-labile, slowly labile, and iner t. This procedure has been applied to species of copper and lead in na tural waters (e.g., Jarama River).
