Abstract
Five Old World species of the dung beetle genus Onthophagus (nuchicorn is, depressus, bonasus, gazella, and taurus) are presently recorded in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The current North American ran ge of each, based on numerous literature records, specimens from priva te collections, from the insect collections of Cornell University and the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, and our own collecting, is map ped. A brief diagnosis, habitus photographs, and illustrations of othe r diagnostic features are provided to aid in accurate identification o f these adventive species. We also report the presence of O. gazella i n 2 new states in the U.S. (Kansas, Tennessee), and of O. taurus in 6 new states in the U.S. (Missouri, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Tennes see, West Virginia).
