This paper presents the multi-laser scan facility, set up at ESTI's la
boratories for research and testing purposes of solar cells. The facil
ity consists of two separate scanning systems, a high precision one fo
r smaller devices and a large area one for any device up to module siz
e, providing high spatial resolution maps of the short circuit current
. Three inter-changeable lasers of different wavelengths have been cho
sen to reach different penetration depths in the device under test, A
fast data acquisition system allows the on-line visualisation of the r
ecorded light beam induced current (LBIC). Standard products such as m
ono-and polycrystalline cells, as well as newer technology PV-devices
and modules of different sizes were chosen to show the capability of t
he facility.
