We present a unified description of the imaginary part of the dynamica
l magnetic susceptibility chi''(omega,T) and measurements of the stati
c susceptibility chi(T) and electrical resistivity rho(T) in the urani
um intermetallics UCu5-xPdx (x = 1, 1.5). For temperatures T and excit
ation energies omega in the range 12 K < omega, T < 150 K, our analysi
s demonstrates that the dynamics of isolated uranium ions are responsi
ble for the observed temperature and frequency scaling, although inter
ion interactions may become important at lower temperatures and freque
ncies. We derive a strict criterion for single-ion scaling in the form
of a universal scaling function, providing a model-independent descri
ption of the compiled experimental data.
