Abstract
Gastric infection with herpes simplex virus Is rare, with only two cas es previously reported. At the time of the previous reports, the virus could not be cultured, and the diagnosis was based on histological fi ndings. Two cases of culture positive herpes simplex virus gastritis a re presented, emphasizing the importance of routine gastric biopsies a nd viral cultures in immunodeficient patients with dyspeptic symptoms.
