Abstract
Condensation of glyoxal with 2-aminobenzylamine produces the novel com pound 2,2'-bi(1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinazoline), 6, the structure of whic h has been confirmed by X-ray crystallography. However, reaction of gl yoxal with other 2-substituted benzylamines yields hexabenzylhexaazais owurtzitanes. The crystal structure of the derivative prepared from 2- methylbenzylamine has been determined and is compared with that of the derivative from 4-chlorobenzylamine
