Abstract
3,5-Dimethyl-4-iodoisoxazole readily undergoes palladium-catalyzed cou pling with arylboronic acids and organostannanes to form 4-aryl-3,5-di mthylisoxazoles. The unique nature of the isoxazole-ring is exploited to convert 4-aryl-3,5-dimethylisoxazoles to 3-aryl-2,4-pentanediones.
