The Mousterian lithic industry of the Barma Grande cave is characteriz
ed by a duality of the core reduction technology according to size of
raw material. Generally, elongated blanks were produced by the Levallo
is method primary flaking (''debitage''), while non elongated blanks w
ere produced by the discoidal method of primary flaking (''debitage'')
. The elongated blank allowed the re-use of a retouched edge by a resh
arpening. This duality could be to assure of variety of tools types.
