Abstract
The find of a fossil human calotte, collected in September 1994, near the North Hinder Bank in the southern basin of the North Sea, is brief ly described. The absolute age of this fossil resulted in 9640 +/- 40 BP. It is probably the first record of a dated fossil human find from this particular region to be attributed to Early Holocene times, when this was still dry land. Unexpectedly, the cranial index of the calott e indicates its brachycranic nature.
