Abstract
We have isolated a novel human gene and cDNA encoding a member of the regI proteins, regI beta. The gene encodes a 166-amino acid protein wh ich has 22 amino acid substitutions in comparison with the previously isolated human reg protein, regI alpha. RegI beta was expressed only i n pancreas, whereas regI alpha was expressed in kidney and stomach as well as in pancreas.
