Section I of this article presents the agronomic and technical purpose
s involved in vine pruning and the decision model used to simulate the
pruner's reasoning (fuzzy multicriteria decision making). Section II
describes the method used for the choice of the best aggregation opera
tor. Section III describes the model decision which is used to make au
tomatic decision on complex vine configurations. Section IV presents t
he results: the model was performed on training set made of 140 standa
rd pruning cases, 69.4% of similarity were observed between the decisi
on model and the expert. (C) 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
