SEPARATION AND IDENTIFICATION OF PARTIALLY ETHYLATED GALACTOSES AS THEIR ACETYLATED ALDONONITRILES AND ALDITOLS BY CAPILLARY GAS-CHROMATOGRAPHY AND MASS-SPECTROMETRY

As an aid to the structural determination of naturally methylated gala ctans, the separation and identification by capillary gas chromatograp hy and the mass spectral features of ethylated galactoses as their ald ononitrile and alditol acetate derivatives are presented and compared with those of their methylated counterparts. Data for some ethylated m ono-O-methylgalactose derivatives are also included.
