Abstract
In this article, we research the emotion processing capacities related to alexithymia, for assessing that alexithymia reflects a deficit in the ability to process cognitively emotional stimuli. We performed a c omputerized Stroop color-naming task in which they named the colors of arousal words (e.g., AIDS) and non emotional words (e.g., GLASSES). I n agreement with predictions, in the experimental phase subjects categ orized as alexithymics should take less time to colour-name arousal wo rds than non-alexithymics. These findings suggest that alexithymics we re less able to recognise emotional stimuli, Also these finding provid e further support for the validity of alexithymia construct.
