Nk. Singha et Tp. Mohandas, MICROSTRUCTURES OF A HYDROGENATED STYRENE-BUTADIENE COPOLYMER BY C-13NMR, Journal of macromolecular science. Pure and applied chemistry, A34(11), 1997, pp. 2269-2278
The microstructure and sequence distribution of a styrene-ethylene-but
ene-l copolymer obtained by quantitative hydrogenation of emulsion sty
rene-butadiene rubber (SBR) was determined using C-13 NMR. The results
show that the polymer has 82% (CH2)(>6) units arising due to BBB', SB
B and BBB triads (B = hydrogenated 1,4 butadiene, B' = butene-land S =
styrene). The presence of long crystallizable methylene sequences res
ults in a melting endotherm at 45 degrees C for the hydrogenated SBR.
