SOLID-PHASE TRAPPING OF POLYCHLORINATED-BIPHENYLS IN SUPERCRITICAL-FLUID EXTRACTION

A method for the interference-free analysis determination of polychlor inated biphenyl (PCB) congeners in sewage sludge in less than 2 h with quantification limits down to 10-20 ppb (w/w) is presented. Evaluatio ns were made of four different trapping materials for the supercritica l fluid extraction of PCBs from sewage sludge. The influence of modifi ers at different concentrations and temperatures was studied for diffe rent trapping materials with respect to their trapping efficiency with spiked samples.
