Some thermodynamic properties (excess enthalpies, entropies and Gibbs
energies of mixing) have been determined for binary solutions of ethyl
benzene + n-alkanes (eicosane, C20H42; heneicosane, C21H44; docosane,
C22H46; tricosane, C23H48; and tetracosane, C24H50), at crystallizatio
n temperatures in the (260-305) K range. The calculated properties var
y with the chain lengths of the n-alkanes, and show the alternation ef
fect occurring in the general behaviour of n-alkanes. Simple analytica
l expressions have been established to describe the excess properties.
